On January 1, 2024, Jeff Ward assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at FXSpotStream, a leading FX electronic liquidity distribution provider.
This significant leadership transition had been announced the previous August, marking Ward as the permanent successor to Alan Schwarz, the company’s Co-Founder who had stepped down the year before.
Following Schwarz’s departure, Tom San Pietro, FXSpotStream’s Chief Technology Officer, temporarily took on the CEO position. Jeff Ward officially confirmed his appointment in a LinkedIn post, heralding the beginning of his tenure.
Mark Meredith, Chairman of the Board at LiquidityMatch, the parent company of FXSpotStream, expressed great confidence in Ward’s abilities.
Meredith stated, “Following an extensive and rigorous search, the Board is highly confident that Jeff’s exceptional leadership skills, strategic insights, and deep industry knowledge make him the ideal choice to drive the company’s continued growth, as well as strengthen its partnerships and build key new relationships.”
FXSpotStream, established as a bank-owned consortium in 2011, offers services in the institutional spot forex market and has expanded its offerings to include services in the derivatives market.
Additionally, the platform recently introduced support for FX Algos and allocations over its API, expanding its service portfolio.
Jeff Ward brings a wealth of industry experience to his new role at FXSpotStream, with over three decades in the financial sector.
Prior to joining FXSpotStream, he held an executive position at the CME Group. Ward became part of the CME Group through its acquisition of NEX Markets (formerly EBS).
For the past five years, he served as the Global Head of EBS at CME Group, based in London.
Ward’s professional journey began in 1993 at Citibank, where he embarked on his career.
Subsequently, he joined ABN AMRO Bank, where he worked as the Executive Director for Client Services across various divisions in San Francisco, Amsterdam, and New York.
Ward’s impressive career also included a six-year tenure at ICAP (now TP ICAP), where he initially served as the Senior Vice President and Regional General Manager of Asia and Oceania before becoming the Global Head of FX Sales.
Jeff Ward’s appointment as CEO signifies a new chapter for FXSpotStream, with high expectations for continued growth and innovation under his leadership.
